Language Learning Center – SLZ
The University of Bonn’s Language Learning Center offers a wide range of opportunities for students to acquire and expand their foreign language skills. It is an integral part of the Department of Intercultural Communication and Multilingualism Research at the Institute of Linguistics, Media Studies and Musicology.
Language Modules
The SLZ offers interdisciplinary modules in 16 different languages. These modules cover both standard and discipline-specific language, and are offered for a variety of different levels. All modules are competency- and action-oriented, and follow a blended learning format.
Depending on the specific curricular specifications of the individual departments, the language modules can be credited as an elective (Freier Wahlbereich), a required elective (Wahlpflichtbereich), or an interdisciplinary course (Überfachlicher Praxisbereich). Before registration, you must complete a binding language level assessment (you can find information on exceptions in the details on language level assessment1). To find more detailed information about the modules’ contents, please refer to the module guide2. Currently offered modules are listed on BASIS3.

1st phase: January 13 – January 21, 2025

1st phase: March 10 – March 19, 2025
2nd phase: March 24 – April 3, 2025
The placement test will be published on eCampus on February 24, 2025

Erasmus & international students who cannot access eCampus yet and would still like to participate in a language module can complete the placement test on-site at the SLZ (Lennéstraße 6). To do so, please register via our contact form6.
